I'm after some scales that look at more than just weight.

I purchased some last year I think and they were all over the place.

Google keeps popping up Hume Body Pod or similar. The adverts/website looks good (of course). Has anyone got them? Are they worth the price? Is there anything else worth looking at?

I have Nokia Scales but really not sure how accurate they are.

I'm not sure you are going to get accuracy on any scale as they work by sending an electrical current through your body and measuring the response (as fat is different to water). However that makes them sensitive to hydration etc.

I'm happy to use mine for following a trend (ie being able to average out the inaccuracies over time) but don't trust it for an absolute reading on any given day

Just Googled Hume and looks like they use current passing through flesh method. Using an app, which will no doubt fool people into thinking it's high tech, but it's not going to be accurate.

I've got these but they are definitely affected by hot weather (unless I've shed visceral fat by sunbathing).

Dehydration a factor?

These come highly rated, I have one myself, it's even cheaper than when I bought mine.
In comparison tests I've seen they're as accurate.....or inaccurate......as the others

I take a reading once a week, Saturday usually,as soon as I get up,after having a pee.there isn't much variation in my readings unless I've been feeding my face that week smile

In re body fat measurement, it begs the question what for?

The ones which measure impedance aren't particularly accurate in absolute terms but IME they do track changes if you lose and gain fat. They are sensitive to hydration and alcohol.

I'm not sure they really give you much more data than looking in the mirror or measuring your waist circumference at the belly button.

If OP really wanted to know could buy a fancy fat monitor and get a DEXA scan to get an accurate measure of body composition. Would have a fair idea how to correct the accuracy of the device then.

If OP wants to lose fat and preserve muscle then the dietary and exercise advice is pretty established. Mild calorie deficit, walk 10000 steps or low aerobic of choice, resistance training, plenty of protein, sleep.

There are comparison tests of scales, which compare them to a DEXA scan. The more expensive ones are very close to a DEXA. One of the readings you can have is visceral fat, quite an important one.
