Louth is in the Irish Republic and therefore has nothing to do with UK law.
Historically, Irish Republic law has had very close links with the UK but since 1921 the two have diverged more and more. For instance, up until 1996 divorce was not available in the Irish Republic. New Family Law Legislation was introduced that year allowing legal divorces in the the Irish Republic for the first time.
Try a Google under Irish Family Law and you might get some meaningful help.

Have tried that! It does seem quite different to the UK. If no-one here has anyone they can recommend, looks like I will just have to dig a name out of the Solicitors Directory!
Thanks anyway guys.
