I am not sure of this is an age thing, turned 50 last year, or an Asperger's thing. But I am becoming increasingly tired of word salad/soup that people use.

On Saturday we were on a train to London and there was two women behind us on the train, one of them I swear never stopped talking, either to her friend or on the phone, for the entire 50 minutes.

This raised two questions in my mind:
1) How did she have so much to say?
2) When did she breathe?

Then this morning I dialed into a call, which could have been an email, and made the fatal mistake of asking a question about a meeting that had been scheduled for later today, I then got a 10 minute, literally 10 minutes about what the meeting was about... Not sure we actually need the meeting anymore!

On a recent flight back from Sweden, sat in the middle with the extra leg room, there were two women in their mid 30s - one of them spent the entire flight talking - I mean constantly talking. One story just merged instantly into another. The woman she was with occasionally mumbled something. But it was utter dribble. Something about her brother coming to stay so needing to sort the spare room out but her boyfriend used the room for something so he's having to clear out the garage and his dad has helped out but suffers from ...blah blah blah for 1 and half hours.

She was still going as we're all walking to passport control.

I'm certain it's an affliction or stress related because I can't think of any normal person able to talk about nothing for so long.

I wonder if this was the same person!

It's also the volume, as seemingly they're unable to regulate the content as well as the volume. I'm convinced it's a southern thing - every time I visit the south it's the same. Not everyone, but there does seem a larger proportion that need to say more by saying less, and doing it a couple of decibels lower

These people, normally labelled as "chatty" are incapable of thinking quietly.
Everything that pops into their mind has to be spoken.

Substitute the word 'spoken' with 'shouted' or 'yelled'.

Mrs V. will telephone her friend, whom she is meeting for coffee tomorrow, and talk for 3-4 hours. Then she will meet her friend the next day for coffee and I imagine talk about everything they talked about last night. How they each get to speak I'll never know?

I might utter 50 words on a good day unless it's a worthwhile subject.

I had a pal who talked so much it was like being assaulted. In the end I told him I couldn't take it any more and had to be left alone or I'd commit suicide in front of him.

The other one that gets on my tits is people who continue talking as you're leaving the room. I can see their gob still moving when I'm at the bottom of the garden.

Impart your information. Then go quiet.

I find it bizarre too. I find it difficult enough making 'normal' conversation - how do these people have so much to say, and why do they think everyone wants to hear it?

I was at a meeting some time ago. We had the usual couple of tongue exercisers, blathered on with irrelevant rubbish. One person was asked what he thought about the comments....his reply.....
"Why use one word when 100 will do."
Several of us chuckled.

I think that Douglas Adams said something about this in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, in that some people keep constantly talking because if they stop, their brains start to work!

It's not just the talking - how do they talk constantly with a wide permanent smile at the same time?

My wife's mate does this. 4 of us in the room and she spews ste to my missus and ignores us men.

Wife leaves the room and she continues the same conversation with us two. One of us leaves and, yup, same ste to tne one left. We all love her but OMG. Last Dec they popped up from St Ives for a weekend and ended up staying for 5 weeks as her mum sadly died during her stay. 5 weeks of "constant send" as we like to say..

Flew to Copenhagen from Newcastle last year. 1 hr flight next to my Mrs was an American lady talking to her mate in front of her, basically talking to the back of her mates head. The whole journey she talked non stop with every third word being ‘like’ we listened to what hotel she was staying in, what restaurants they were eating in, how she’d last been there when she was 8 years old, she never stopped talking from take off to landing. Longest hour I’ve ever experienced. 🤬

In our hiking group we have one like that.
One of the others said that he suffers from a lack of brain between thinking and speaking....
Everyone else thinks of something and then perhaps says something,
not this guy... obviously the switchgear between think and speak is defective/missing
and he's repeated elements which we've all heard a dozen times, regularly......
I call it verbal diarrhoea

some examples......
what a lovely day....blather blather
We can see the Alps from here on a god day....FFS we know we've lived here for half a f'ing century
didn't I pick a great hike......blather
I picked this one because..... FFS more drivel
We've got to hurry up or we'll be late for dinner...
Call the restaurant, we're going to be 5 minuttes late... FFS the restaurant knows we're a hiking group and they know we might possibly be late/early
Lets have a rest we've plenty of time.... 5 minutes later hurry up or we'll be late....... FFS we've just sat down and got our sandwiches out...

I stopped it once, while I was driving, in that I told him to STFU or I'd kick him out of the car... worked for about 1 hour TFFT!!!!!
And it might be an age thing... we're all pensioners over 3/4 century!!
