Drive shaft universal bolts

Have you tried the tightness of your drive shaft bolts recently? I had noticed a bit of a clunk on gear changes and tightened the diff bush bolts that seemed to reduce it. While on a 400 round trip on Sunday to Loton Park hill climb I sensed that the clunking had worsened. and was careful changing gear but 20 miles from home a loud clicking developed, after pulling in to a layby I could see nothing untoward so proceeded to carry on but was met with a horrible graunching sound and no drive. After recovery the problem was the near side UJ had become completely detached from the diff fortunately the bolts were still present. Very lucky it did not part company on the M6 at 70!
