Patio parasol

Can anyone recommend a large patio parasol that won't blow over and will last a few years.

Not blowing over is all down to the base it stands in.

In our coastal and very exposed location, we had a large Outsunny cantilever parasol and base from Ikea that was filled with sand.

No issues at all and our place was very exposed to wind from the Atlantic. We did take it down from November to May though

I'm looking at mine right now not tipping over.

They look perfect, especially with two recommendations, but no delivery available, nearest store with stock is 140 miles away. I'll have a road trip if nothing else good comes up

[Unexpected Item In The Bagging Area]

We’ve had one of these for a short while now. It’s excellent and very good quality, but a quick look suggests that availability is a bit tricky. Ours was £495 from John Lewis inc delivery which was a real bargain.

So do I. First big gust of wind had it over and bent one of the supports under the canopy. It's a massive sail and there is a hell of a lot of leverage when the wind catches it.

Interesting - was yours the type with a wind vent? Ours had a wind vent.

This gives you an idea of how exposed our location is. The white building in the distance is a Coast Guard station, past that the next land mass is America. The wind can be very strong and we have had no problems.

Actually my bad - I just checked and mine is a 3m x 4m rectangular parasol. Basically I think the base is well under specced and the metal joiners struggle to hold the 4 bits together once the wind gets under the sale as they are just resting in the holes theres no friction or bolts holding them together.
