Anyone done this to their car, and if so, any feedback?

Feedback on what it is like?

Mine didn’t have one from factory. Fairly subdued in sport mode, a nice deep rumble in sports plus and likely to cause cyclists to have heart attacks in track mode.

I guess trying to find out if people thought it worthwhile, does it make the car droney, or obnoxious on start up etc.

No drone at all.

No more obnoxious than any other Aston I guess. One man s delight can be another man s misery though.

If you watch the numerous circa ‘21 launch videos for the Roadster you will see they provided US spec cars which had no GPF. Reviews about the sound were favourable and generally created smiles and joy in a world where such fun is no longer available.

Out of interest, the rules changed in summer 2024 (European Union and UK follow) where some 'driver aids' became compusory.

Did particulate filters also become compulsory at some point and if so, how can manufacturers allow cars to leave the factory without those filters?

Euro 6c under European Union emissions standard (EU 715/2007). It mandated vehicle testing to the more realistic WLTP lab cycle, which essentially made it harder to pass at the same emissions levels. The regulation applied to new car types in September 2017 and all new registrations by September 2018

Make cars that are sold to markets that don't mandate Euro 6c or equivalent. There will be a balance of cost vs production complexity vs regulatory compliance that will dictate if making unique powertrains for different markets is economically viable or necessary for a low-volume manufacturer like AML

Removing a GPF if fitted as original equipment is likely to be illegal in some way

Edited to add (and fix typo)
To be clear, there is no legal mandate to fit GPFs as far as I am aware - the mandate is to reduce particulate emissions below the prescribed limits. If a manufacturer could devise a combustion technology that achieved this without a GPF then I believe this would be acceptable. The fact that GPFs are being pretty universally fitted implies this is currently the optimum solution.

This was my first thought and why replacement exhausts that do so also carry the warning that it should be for racetrack use only as a road car is illegal with the delete.
There no doubt would also be issues with any MOT ?

this is indeed an additional concern, so is there another way of liberating a little more sonic enjoyment?

It feels a bit “ not PH “ to think of the negatives rather than positives although being illegal and actually getting caught for it are possibly 2 different things although the MOT sensor failure is a real thing.
There is also the potential issue of voiding your own Insurance.
That said Quicksilver and or Avon Tuning may be worth a call.
The former used to offer alternative gpf pipes although how much noisier they actually were / are I know not.
It may also be possible to get a switch fitted to activate.
The Gaydon generation pre GPF piped cars were a lot easier to deal with. My V12 was secondary decanted from new ( at the dealers suggestion ) and my GT8 V8 was built with no secondaries anyway.
I also have a R8 V10 currently which also suffers from the same issue - it’s a great noise but could be so much greater.
I’ve looked into similar but even going high end like Capristo and Larini and the like doesn’t seem to give me too many louder legal options.

Cheers, insurance not an issue. as it will be declared if I do anything, warranty on theother hand, need to speak to AM, may pop in there Monday and gather their thoughts, I know they will sell a QuickSilver equipped care through Timeless so that may be an option.

If QS and non gpf delete then Aston should be happy enough to not have any warranty issues - but a check won’t hurt !
When I had the V12 secondary decatted they ( AM works ) were happy to put this in writing.

This explains what to do.

I believe the early UK AM6 cars did not have OPF. I think MY20 the UK went a bit “European” on this stuff. As in no one must have fun. Fun must be abolished.

What reaction do you expect from your insurer if they hold the view that removing the GPF would make the vehicle’s use on the public highway illegal? Do you have something from AM you can send them to show that the vehicle will still be compliant with emissions regs?
