Struggling with this though has its moments.

Big Bang Theory spin off. Stuart (from the Comic Book Store), Denise (girlfriend Lauren Lapkus), Bert (the geologist), and Bawwy Kwipke (the pita) combine forces in a post apocalyptic multiverse following an unfortunate accident with an experiment by Sheldon, Leonard and Howard. Stuart is tasked with restoring order and meets multiple versions of himself and friends from different versions of the universe.

Guest appearances so far, Penn and Teller, and Raj.

Hint, don't skip the titles.

It's amazing to think of the millions he missed out on by not being released from his Ugly Betty contract for the Howard role.

Original Audition: Sussman first read for Leonard in the pilot, then was brought back and nailed the audition for Howard.
The Conflict: He was locked into a contract with ABC for Ugly Betty, which refused to clear him for a full-time role on the new CBS series.
The Return: Producers liked him so much that they later brought him in during Season 2 to play the comic book store owner, Stuart

Simon Helberg was absolutely the right casting for Howard though!

As for Stuarts spin off, it's not as awful as I feared it would be, actually funny in places and is light hearted doesn't take itself seriously TV. Deffo could have been a proper comic strip too.

Why would a comic book store owner be tasked with that? Was he shown to have knowledge like the main cast?

It's short and sweet, 20 minutes long which is perfect for background stuff to have on whilst having a munch. I couldn't just sit there and stare at the TV for a while episode though.

We like it and I think that we'll end up watching them all once.

There is also the possibility that if he had been cast, it might not have been a success at all. The shows success was largely down to Jim Parsons as Sheldon though.

I don't think you need to describe the characters previous roles......
