Hi,

I'm off to Lindos in Rhodes next week for our family holiday, but I'm sure I'll get withdrawal symptoms for not riding for 2 weeks so does anyone have any experience of riding on Rhodes and recommendations for places to hire a decent road bike?

I can't help you with a hire place, but I was in Lindos last week and the week before.

There's a pretty blanket 40-60mph limit across the island making vehicle transit slow. A huge amount of hire cars around (most locals, it seems, take a scooter) mean that the roads are........well, they're for the brave.

It would be fine for local getting around but if you're looking for proper riding.......I'd question it. I didn't see any serious cyclists in two weeks. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I saw a cyclist; full stop........

I think the above is a pessimistic review of cycling in Rhodes! I thought it was excellent.
I can't help about bike hire I'm afraid- I flew mine out, and I was staying the opposite side of the Island to you. The roads of the interior of the Island were brilliant road cycling. Tarmac much better than we are used to in the UK and good steady climbs. Quiet roads and if you are planning a decent loop you will be covering the same roads I did. The busy road round the coast isn't great so just get inland.

Cheers for the responses. I'm well ahead of my annual mileage target so have reluctantly decided to not ride this time frown Apparently its a family holiday and not another training camp smile
