VV lock in rate
Discussion
I booked a Virgin Voyages cruise through a well known online travel website by phone.
Booking went well, good price etc but on reading the booking form I discovered we’re in a lock in rate.
This has several glaring disadvantages that I’m pretty sure were never pointed out to me. The only thing I remember was they would assign us the cabin but the other drawbacks not so much.
If I had been aware of these I’d just have got a normal booking. Should the travel agent have pointed these out while I was speaking to him?
Should I complain or is it just my tough luck for not asking questions? The booking itself can’t be changed according to VV.
Ive got a feeling the consensus from PH is going to be ….

I’ve emailed the company (Cruise 1st) twice without even an acknowledgement of my email.
Phoned up, chatted to an agent who said he was going to listen to the phone booking and call me back. Well you can guess the outcome of that….not a peep.
Any suggestions how to take this further up the line?

If you paid credit card you might have some recourse.
They are probably ignoring you to let the 14 day cooling off period expire....
No cooling off period for holidays booked by phone. I probably wouldn’t get anywhere with a section 75 without a transcript of the call. It’s their word against mine. They are probably ignoring you to let the 14 day cooling off period expire....
Honestly I’m not sure what resolution I’m after. The guy I talked to on the phone tried to get it changed by Virgin and they wouldn’t budge (which I expected)
I think I’m just pissed that they can’t even acknowledge my emails. Even a sorry we screwed up here’s a hundred quid for your trouble would help.
But being ignored..grrr.
