oil warning light : problem?
Discussion
Just had my 6000 service,
Car runs good, however since 2 days the oil warning light goes on/off under acceleration around 5500 RPM.
Info : oil-sensor was replaced; oil : castrol TMS 10w60
Should I be worried? Anyone else had this problem?
At 700 RPM; oil-pressure between 0 and 3 !!!
Oil level OK
So one problem; being a defective oil-sensor OR a MAJOR problem??

Do not worry if you have oil pressure up to snuff and good oil level, after my car's recent 3rd rebuild at 18500! I was worried about the light. THey said <peninsula> that the sensor was most likely dodgey. It goes like pooh and is fine. Have some faith!?! I have done 900 miles since and all is well...maybe
Hi, this is quite a common problem. Always happens after the oil pressure sender is replaced. Its a very common problem as the ones there in the first place have all failed. It seems like some people have even go through a couple of new ones.
When it happened to me, the oil pressures seemed different to before, and the oil light flickered at 5500-6000rpm and above. Nothing wrong with the car whatsover though. Apart from the oil pressure sender of course!

Hi,
Yes it seems to be a common problem. I also talked to my dealer and he was certain it was yet again a faulty oil pressure sensor. There’s a similar topic in the pistonheads database coming to the same conclusion.
Now when the engine is cold, the oil pressure sensor shows a very high figure at low RPM; more then 40 PSI gradually lowering to 0 when warm.
The dealer told me that it could be an air-bell trapped around the sensor.
So I’m waiting for a new sensor. TVR is supplying a different and hopefully better type.
Thanks and greetings
