Do parts of Scotland work?
Discussion
Staying in Bellshill near Glasgow for a few days for the Commonwealth games. Not a terrible area, mostly semis and terraces, reasonable cars, green spaces, the odd dumped fridge but nothing major.
Dead quiet all the time we've been here. Nothing much going on in the evening or morning. Appreciate pace of life can be different away from the South East but didnt see a single car heading off to work in the morning. All seems a bit strange. Doesn't seem to add up.

I have some friends, they’re actually from Belarus but lived in Russia (including Moscow) for a long time and they hate Glasgow because it’s scary/threatening.
Undoubtedly there are bits that are nicer than others but some of the surrounding towns really are grim AF.

I moved to Scotland a couple of years ago and one of the things I noticed is in the evenings a lot of people kind of just baton down the hatches and call it a night around 7 ish. Very different to where I used to live.
Also the schools finish a lot earlier up here - so lots of people will have gone away by now.
I think most break up in late June and will be back by mid August.

TX.
As mentioned it's the middle of the school holidays and just at the end of the Glasgow Fair which is a 2 week period that lots of tradesmen etc have off every year.
It's also been awful weather for the last week or so therefore everyone has been indoors.
Bellshill is a small town anyway but the part where you most likely are is surrounded by industrial estates and business parks so never likely to be much going on. It's a shame the Orb has closed or you could have taken in some of the local culture as featured in Trainspotting 2
