my 993 has started to follow the bumps in the road just a bit more than i would like to the point that i had a lose wheel at one point
any advice

Get the geometry checked - 993's are very sensitive - and go to a decent Porsche specialist, not just a tyre place.
But it's not unusual for a 4S to tramline a bit anyway, it's the low suspension and the 18's...

Check your tyres. They can look perfect, but put them on full lock and you can often find they are completely smooth

What they said, plus check the front wishbone bushes.

The ball joints can contribute to tram lining issues best get them checked too.
