Linked wireless smoke alarm recommendations

Hi, last year we had loft conversion and that meant having linked alarms on all 3 floors. Builder initially forgot so we ended up with wireless solution rather than wired solution.

I have now had 2 sets of these alarms. Made by Wisualarm. Both now have a strange issue where randomy they will start beeping (not going off but just beeping). Pressing test/silence button seems to get rid of this, only for it to repeat few weeks later and almost always at night or early morning. They have non replaceable batteries. Wisualarm have been useless in helping so far.

Any suggestions or recommendations for replacement linked wireless smoke alarms?

I have FireAngel which also works over the internet for remote alarms to my phone.

HiSpec do a nice range (RF10-Pro) that also includes CO2 and heat detectors.

Aico are the best IMO - fitted quite a lot.

I tend to fit heat + smoke in kitchen, heat + smoke + CO near boiler, smoke everywhere else.

You can mix and match wired with wireless, you just plug a wireless adapter into one of the wired units.

Wired units are supplied with a 9V battery, wireless are sealed with a battery for life.

FYI smoke alarms are usually lifed to 10 years now and should be replaced at that point. The aico ones all share the same “shoe” you fix to the ceiling, so it’s easy to replace old with new.

I would stay away from FireAngel. I have about 14 devices including the hub. 3-4 years is the typical life of the job-replaceable batteries, false alarms occur when the batteries are getting low (and it’s cold overnight), I’ve ever had to replace the wifi hub.

They changed their warranties to protect themselves and stopped replacing devices well within their design life if you don’t have a receipt (who keeps receipts for 3+ years for a smoke alarm?!).

This completely destroyed the company’s reputation and resulted in a significant notice to shareholders.

I am stuck with them because I don’t want to replace 14 devices and it’s just a continuous pain to replace the devices as they fail well within their design life.

We always use Aico on lofts/rewires, I also have them in my house and had 10+ in my last house (4 story)
