Hi

I have 2 USB 2.0 devices with high power (scanner & EHDD) requirements meaning I can't plug them into my laptop concurrently. In addition, I have another 4 low-power devices (iPod cradle, P900 cradle, flashdrive and self-powered EHDD).

I'm looking for a nice powered USB 2.0 hub to allow me to connect all these devices to my laptop docking station so I don't have to keep messing around with the cables all the time.

A nice solution appears to be the 17-in-1 Card Reader/Write & Hub Combo|http://www.directusbstore.co.uk/cnb/shop/directusbstore?productID=237&op=catalogue-product_info-null&prodCategoryID=21 which is powered, looks good, offers the card functionality (which is useful) but only has 3 USB 2.0 ports.

An alternative is the Belkin USB 2.0 7-port hub|http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=197&pcount=&Product_Id=158038&Section.Section_Path=%2FUSB%2FHubs%2F# which also looks good and has 7 ports and external power but no card reading capabilities.

Given the choice of the two above I think it has to be the Belkin, unless anyone knows of any other good products or has anything to say about these two products I haven't thought of?

Cheers.

roadie.

Ah-ha! I have solved the problem by ordering one of these puppies which comes complete with 4 powered USB 2.0 connections!

I can now order the combined card-reader/USB hub since I'll already have four powered ports.

Edited to say: I've just noticed it has an integrated card-reader too! A remarkably cost-effective solution!
