£5k ULEZ Compliant Estate

Hi there, I’m having trouble deciding what would be a good estate purchase. I have a budget of £5k and am looking for a ULEZ compliant estate that is relatively good on fuel. I’m currently stuck in two minds. 1. Buy something older with a larger and more reliable engine. 2. Buy something more modern that is better on fuel with a smaller engine and pay less tax. I don’t do an awful lot of driving but when I do it tends to be long distance drives of an hour or longer. Any advice or help would be brilliant. Cheers
