Dealer or mobile mechanic

Quick question, my daughters Range Rover has an amber light came up on the dashboard, so he has booked it into her local Range Rover dealer, but a three week wait.

I asked her if she considered a mobile mechanic, she tells me if it isn’t a Range Rover dealer, a 3rd parties intervention will wipe out the cars computer, as told by a local garage.

Just wondering if correct, just seems odd, thanks in advance.

OBD11 is an open protocol, surely reading and clearing a code will not kill the car even if its a Range Rover.

If a garage has told you this then don't go there again whatever you do.

As above it's absolute nonsense. However it's so ludicrous it may be worth just checking what was asked and what specially was the reply .
