Hi all, sorry for the rambling post!
I'm back in the typical car buying dilemma and just thought I'd throw it out for ideas, have been driving around in my dad's old diesel Focus estate for the past 6 months after my Smart #1 Brabus through works salary sacrifice went back in a change of jobs. The Focus has a few issues and with the rust underneath it if it doesn't go this MOT at the end of the year, it will be the next one so don't really feel like chasing issues. I've got a van for main mountain biking duties, and a mk3 MR2 in the garage for tinkering/nice days.
Been around the options so many times, sensible is the Toyota C-HR+ through work salary sacrifice, good range, good equipment and absolutely no hassle at a pretty decent price. MR2 and van could stay. Other options I've looked at are PHEVs (really like the 508 PSE, 330e is a more sensible option). Got a wall charger at home so full electric 2nd hand an option too.
Then looked at the Kia PV5, much smaller than my LWB crewcab so no options to sleep 2 + bikes but would serve as a daily and a van.
Main requirements are:
- fit a bike inside, wheels off fine but can't be a complete mission, have a bike in the focus weekly just now for the way home from work.
- 110 mile weekly commute with no charging stop
- monthly trip to Manchester from Central Scotland, one charge would be preferred
- if expensive running costs must be fun to justify
- adaptive cruise a nice to have
Would love a Suzuki Swift Sport at some point but bike would be difficult and motorway trips would get boring quickly, doesn't really stack up with the MR2 there, was looking at the Kia Stinger this morning, had a Cupra 300 estate before and would have again, hot hatches an obvious option, RS4 estate always been a dream car but suspect they're heading past sensible daily into maintenance headaches unless I got a good one. 335d obvious candidate too.
Also temptation there just to grab another shed when this one fails but having to work on 3 myself that usually need something at the same time is a pain.
Or a slightly larger convertible that would take golf clubs, and get business insurance on the van for post-work commute MTB duties.
Max budget, say just over £20k but every time I look at the Stinger/508 SW at that price range I keep coming back to c.£350 a month for a new Toyota fully insured and maintained is the sensible answer. But that's boring!

Tesla Model S will get a bike in the back with the wheel on with no issues. Adaptive cruise as well.
Some older ones have free supercharging as well, with the base model 75D capable of 220 miles on a full charge and the 100D considerably more.
Bought one on a whim 18 months ago, been all over the country in it and it's been great.
