I note that Porsche has also introduced PCCM+ for 991.1. Part number: 991 642 600 00

Any idea on pricing and availability in the UK?

Would really like to get Apple CarPlay into my 981.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. A bit of research suggests $2,800 could be the RRP in the US. However, TEILE.com seem to have a provisional price of €1,800.

If it does end up c£1,500 i'd be very tempted if the glovebox USB still works with the new unit (I keep an old IPOD connected in there).

I've been quoted just under £2k fitted from a local OPC with PCGB discount. It doesn't seem too unreasonable for an OEM system that should integrate with other car features and provide a much better screen.

Looks like that would be a very nice enhancement for my 981 GTS.
Presumably a bit slicker than just adding an after market board to the existing PCM unit, which I had been looking at to get CarPlay. Pity they didn't manage to squeeze in an extra inch or so of screen size though.

Yes, the bezel size on the new 997 version is questionable, but on the 981 version it seems like a missed opportunity for a larger screen. Silly size bezel. There is nearly as bezel as there is screen area!

I installed Mr12Volt in my 991.1. Cost of unit £450. Installation £150 so total £600. It provides exactly the same functionality as the Porsche system for a fraction of the price. Or am I missing something here?

Been struggling to find someone to do the same for mine in the Oxf/Bucks/Berks area if anyone knows someone reputable to fit. Sounds like a lot cheaper than the OPC system.

Reach out to Liam at https://carplaydirect.net/?srsltid=AfmBOoq2tJomLXU... He will also recommend a fitter if you are in one of the areas he covers. For example he has a fitter in the Harrow area of London who is fantastic

You’re a hero, thanks FrancisA, I’ve been after this for a couple of years. No way I’m paying £2k for something that basically works just as well for a fraction of the price.

Note what Porsche are saying

“Depending on the vehicle's equipment, it may be necessary to code the instrument cluster.”

”The existing amplifier needs to be updated to the latest software version.”

“We recommend that the PCCM Plus be installed by qualified professionals. The warranty on the device will be void if the installation is carried out by the user.”

I'd assume that the 'user' also means any 3rd party.

It took me less than two hours to fit the mr12volt unit and board. Pretty easy following the YouTube videos.

There is a long thread on Rennlist that is worth a read. Screen size is the same but resolution much improved. However, talk of some features that exist in PCM 3.1 being removed and additional cables being needed adding to the cost.

https://www.nmautomotive.co.uk/shop-carplay-android-auto-kits speak to Nick, he supplied my 997 unit and I used https://sextonslondon.co.uk/ to do the install, they are Chelsea way, outside the CC and I just tuned into town for a few hours, Nick may now have a more local fitter.

Your other option is call Max at https://johnkleisaudio.co.uk/what-we-do/apple-carp... in Reading, they can supply and fit a solution, my new car is booked in for a full audio upgrade in a few weeks, tell him Pietro sent you.

Very interesting. If it's €1800 it might be worth it just to stop the bloody radio coming on when I start the car. Right now I have to make sure that it's always left on aux so that music doesn;t start playing from the radio or from my phone. No idea who was behind that design decision!

The existing unit has a lot of functionality which I wouldn't like to see disappear even though I hardly ever use it. Things like lap timer and which I could imagine might not exist. And it would be nice if the on-screen keyboard could be changed from German layout...
