Eclipse next week

When I retired in 1999 I took a job in Jessops.. and in Aug that year borrowed... with permission... a stack of stuff and drove to Devon to get the eclipse on video and still... cloud 100%.
Relating this to a neighbour who is going to photograph it about the filter I used and that you will fry the sensors in his DSLR if he doesn't use one., he told me that he isn't going to bother as he will be going 'manual' at 100asa 1/4000 at f22..Told him to get a proper filter but he insists all will be ok as the modern stuff can handle it...
Me? Will be looking through welders goggles as I have seen the prices of 77mm ND 1000000 filters!!!

He should be ok if he just takes the one photo at the exact moment of the eclipse 
I'm probs not going to bother as last week I finally chopped in my long range sports/wildlife kit (7Dmk2, 400mm lens and 1.4x extender giving 900mm in total) for Sony FF stuff so I have a feeling I'd only be disappointed....

Solar filter for the Mak is out and ready, just finished faffing with tracking mount and camera rotator so I am ready to go more or less, will go and setup at 4:30 and make sure the tracking is working ok before covering it up to track later on
Well found a spot with a good uninterrupted view to horizon And BONUS was the only one there!! thought it might have been rammed ( a bridge across the M4 was the back up)
Got it all set up and just missed the first bite But found out that the camera could be set on interval shooting so 10sec ir was and now have 700 pics to go through
Good news the 76p last in the shop, offer of the shade 13 welding glass worked great on the 100-400 lens held on with two rubber bands
Bad news
Had a choice of running the 18-105mm and getting it all in one screen .but the sun look like a pimple of a pigs arse at 50ft. so went with the bigger zoom at about 170mm or so
Sat watching the screen using the live view and seeing the sun move swiftly from top left to bottom right.so a readjustment every minute of so was necessary
Now have an assortment of eclipse shots although in time order jumping all over the screen like a demented frog
And had the wrong release mount in and the damn thing wobbled each time i readjusted the viewpoint!! but it was worth it
Now the question. Is a programme about where i could 'get each shot on the same horizontal line and crop and stitch the results ...bit like a mega panoramic view but with over 700 frames?
Any thoughts?
Then stayed up for the Persids but sky seemed 'too light' and stars were very indistinct. Didnt hsve a great success with the bulb setting and that is going to be WIP before the next lot arrive... Orionids and then LeonidsWas told to use 100asa steiing biggest aperture and infinty focus.
