New front struts and springs

I have replaced the cars original front struts and coil springs for new front struts and coil springs on my e92 318i sport fitted with msport suspension. The car generally sits quite low on 19inch wheels with 35mm profile tyres, hence there is an air gap between tyre and arch of around 1.5 inches all round.
I have been reassured by different companies that i have bought the correct struts and springs for the car with msport suspension. I have fitted the new parts and it now sits with around 3 inch air gap at the front. I have been told it will settle after a few days to a week, surely not by 1.5 inches or am i wrong.
what are your thoughts guys
