Hi all,

I did have RAC personal cover but managed to let that lapse in March sadly.

I have had a car pull out on me to turn right on an A road, I had about 20m if that, braked, hit and went over.

I am quite crocked, ambulance to hospital, ribs, liver, arm etc.

My broker pointed me at LemonAid, I have spoken to White Dalton.

I'm aware they can take a cut and that it can take 1-2 years, no argument there - but is there anyone else I should speak to?

Thanks.

Ouch!

Sorry, I cant offer any advice or recommendations, as been fortunate enough to not need them so far.

However wishing you a speedy recovery!

I’m going to take an educated guess that they “didn’t see you”

Hope recovery goes smoothly

Where my bike is lying, I was going the other way on the main road behind a bike and a car.

German reg X5 (so LHD) was where my bike is lying trying to go the other way.

Car went past, bike went past and they just pulled out.

I braked like Pecco, rode into the rear quarter then carried on over.

I had the same, but luckily was in my car. Because it was an open and shut case much like yours. My insurance let their accident claims management company handle everything as it was all on the other guys insurance.

They did take the piss though and changed the other insurance £17964 to me to have a ford capri rental car for 23 days. They tried to get me to claim for personal injury but I wouldn't do it as I was fine.

What has your insurance said?

Aviva are only dealing with the bike. All my kit and medical will probably have to go via solicitors.

I don't believe liability is in dispute, not sure how it could be really, but still waiting on the Police to inform me of the TP details.

I have 6 broken ribs, lacerated and bruised liver, broken arm, broken thumb and the usual cuts, bangs and bruises. Still in hopital at the moment, a week tomorrow.

I can’t recommend a set of solicitors, as I’ve no real experience of them personally, but I do have a few words of caution for you.

Firstly, the names of solicitors and their size can be very misleading. The bigger firms are run like factories staffed with paralegals, which are effectively junior / trainers solicitors. Most of these are literally following a defined process as you’d see in many factories without the wider understanding of what’s happening and / or the ability to step outside defined process. Your injuries sound like they would fit the normal process but bear in mind you will be a customer number with these firms, not a client tjat they know or care about.

Their primary aim is to settle for a reasonable amount of money as quickly as possible so that they can get paid. As you don’t have legal expenses cover (an annual policy would have cost you £30 for any and all injury claims no matter what vehicle you’re in, or even walking) then you’re going to lose 25% of any award to them in fees.

To play devil's advocate, sometimes dealing with a larger firm that knows the processes like the back of their hand and can settle quickly and efficiently isn't a bad thing.
