Eclipse eye damage

Is there usually a spate of people with eye damage after each solar eclipse, or are the overwhelming majority fairly sensible in this respect?

Maybe it's self governing? If you're intelligent / aware enough to take an interest in this kind of thing, then you're likely to understand the need to use the correct precautions?

And if you're too stupid to understand or just don't care, then you'll be in the pub anyway and not staring at the sun?

Although my local facebook group of councilistas are clambering over each other for the last pair of 'eclipse glasses' that Dodgy Dave is flogging out of his bedroom, so there could well possibly be a queue at the opticians tomorrow, who knows.

I'm imagining the venn diagram of those people and people who put disposable barbeques on picnic benches and set them alight, then tip the smoldering remains in to bins is a circle.
