Hi all

I loved the Noble on a recent test drive, its miles ahead of any TVR in both build quality and handling terms, but are a bit concerned about selling the thing, especially with the nightmare I've had with the Porsche.

I’ve just come from a 996 and tried to sell it privately without any joy and had to deal with a load of tossers phoning me and asking stupid questions and making silly offers. In the end I sold to a dealer and lost a fair chuck of cash. Wanted about 40K and ended up taking 33K.
I’m used to buying private to minimize the dealers cut, but it seems difficult to sell anything over 30K privately and would have thought it’s even harder to sell a Noble (due to smaller market) on PSheads or in the Trader.

Is this the case, can you get stuck with them?

I think it the same with any car of this type,Noble,TVR,Ultima etc.Priced competively with a decent price differential between your car and a dealer it will sell. I sold my HSV GTS-R on Pistonheads to a private seller (1 of only 12 UK cars so it doesn't get much rarer than that). I put it up for sale in plenty of time and although it took a while ( which I was prepared for)the first person to look at it bought it.
The problem I found when I was looking for a Noble privately was most sellers were asking dealer money or thereabouts which was unrealistic so I bought from Noble-London with no regrets.
Just buy one without worrying about selling, you probably won't want to anyway, they really are fantastic cars, with what now seems a very enthusiastic dealer/factory back-up.

Really happy with mine, had it a few months. When I bought it I also thought about resale value then thought to hell with it you only come this way once enjoy it, and you will.

There is massive oversupply in the sports car market. Unless you can compete on price then you won't really make a sale so its tough all round. When I was selling my noble dealers didn't want it because it was approaching 20k on the clock and I wasn't trading to another noble (at which point they probably make more allowances because they are making a sale and can scalp you both ways!). Fortunately I sold it privately for a fair price in 3 days of advertising. It cuts both ways having a rarer car - if the car is well looked after, good spec and you find the right buyer its simplicity itself to sell.

I took a year to sell, maybee more.Sent it to Kerridges and it was sold within weeks and for far more than i was asking.

Private no chance.

Mind you they are so cheap now that it matters not.I cant see a 3r at 25k.Mind you i did not think they would ever be 35k.

Do the factory currently sell any new cars at the moment as the used ones are so dam cheap.

Best value for money buy on the planet as a used car.

All sports cars have lost a fortune, including the old residual hold outs Porsche & Ferrari (er not their v12s which have always been shocking!). The market is massively over supplied as every manufacturer has churned out thousands of the things over the last few years.

I would think that the Noble market is now forming a plateau and that prices will start to firm up on well kept models. They make a superb 2nd hand supercar purchase and if offered at a realistic price with good history and signs of care, there is no reason why you should not find a private buyer.

I do think that this rings more true, the older and cheaper the car gets. Over 30k and I would guess that most folks prefer to have the safety (?) of buying from a dealer.
