Possible to invert lever shift direction on an auto?

For some reason Toyota decided to implement manual shifting on their Land cruiser autos the 'wrong' way round - back is down rather than the more logical up that every proper sequential box uses.

Does anyone know whether this fixable via simple modification to the gear lever switches or is it likely a software solution and therefore impractical. Would be helpful to know BEFORE pulling the centre consul out.

Car is a 2015 Toyota LC with the 5 speed auto so fairly old, hence being hopeful given the technology age.

you'd need to find out how many wires are at the stick etc.

But I doubt it is a totally simple control method. 2015 is not old. 1995 would be old and likely simple wiring/control

Thanks. I'll see if I can hold of a wiring diagram. Was hoping it was a case of swapping micro switch wiring, but maybe more complex than I'd hoped then.

I've done the same on a combine harvester for the header lifting and lowering if that helps.

I wouldn't bother with wiring diagrams, you need to pull the level top apart and see what is actually there, fair chance even if it looks electronic that there will be a couple of obvious connectors to swap over or if both switches are joined together that the switch part can be turned 180 degrees etc.

Thanks...gives me hope. You need a bloody PhD in electronics on a modern combine. Ridiculously complex things these days.
