September Used Market

Looking for a 2 year old Kona EV for my wife, have found one that looks ideal but about a grand more than I'd like to pay. Dealer won't budge on price or extras.

I've convinced myself there will be a flood of cars on the used market in September as the PCP brigade get their new 76 plates.

Anyone in the business able to confirm that A: this is the case and B: if any of these cars will be sold outside of main dealer network?

I'm one of the many who got a Honda e:Ny1 on the cheap PCP deals a couple of years ago, ours is 2 years old in September although the actual agreement is for 25 months... I think there are a lot of these e:Ny1's due to come off PCP from about now going forwards, although I appreciate it isn't a Kona....

EVs are doing very well at the moment, Konas and Niros in particular, so I'm not surprised.

Trade prices are trending up.

Which model are you looking at and how much money?

These can be pretty cheap new through brokers.

Kona 65kwh Advance with the comfort pack, can get one new for £24k through a broker but this two year old one is in the preferred blue and £17.6k with 30k miles on it, we will be keeping it 24-32 months so would be in warranty the whole time.

Was hoping to stick around the £18k mark really

We tried one when that deal first came out but I couldn't get on with it

Are they 3 or 5 year warranty?

5 year with 5 year servicing pack. I have one, not a bad car but terrible pulling away quickly loads of wheelspin, small boot and large rear seat space, and awful winter range on short journeys as the battery is heated. Would not have another, but I only paid £200 a month.

Fair enough. There’s not many listed on Autotrader and I presume not too many of those will be the bigger battery and have Comfort pack. WBAC price looks like £15.5K ish so not much scope for them to go lower unless, as you re hoping, the market gets suddenly flooded with them.

We got an Ultimate for our daughter late 24 and nearly new ones were same price as broker discount new. Dealers wouldn’t budge on pricing on used ones but they were selling pretty quickly at franchised dealers, more slowly at non-franchise.

Fair enough, I did have a look at motorway and wbac when evaluating the value but obviously the dealer has to take a profit somewhere
Motorway and wbac are handy but it means there's no private sales market for 2 to 3 year old cars anymore

Would love an ultimate but unfortunately (for me, fortunate for you) they hold their value very well Vs the advance so out of our budget

Think we're going to go with this one, values are on the up and any PCP returns will likely be on the dealer network. Never spent more than £7k outright on a car so im being a tight arse!
