Let's hope there are no fatalities or serious injuries

It appears three coaches are off the track and on their side with another derailed

Emergency services are on scene just outside Lewes in Sussex

For some reason I expected a train that fell off the track onto its side on fairly flat ground to end up with the wheels on the side closest to the track, instead it's the roof?

The picture on the Argus site does look like it's the other way up at first glance though.

Look at the track, what would make it bend like that?

Third rail stops in the ‘tween tracks but doesn’t resume on the outside.

If they expand and have nowhere to go, they move sideways.

Looks like the pandrel clips holding the rails down have unzipped. No trains on that line for a week or more, tidying that up will be a long job.

Even AI says the tracks are warped.

Fingers crossed everyone is safe.
