when people drop off their TVRs for a service with Joolz what do they do while waiting for it to be finished as he doesn't provide a courtesy car? My other half could follow in her car but that would mean going down to Chesterfield on a Saturday and leaving the Griff for a week whilst it is serviced and picking it up the following Saturday!?!?!?!?

Is this a common TVR servicing phenmomenon????

Thanks for your replies, a curious Rupert

I obviously don't have that problem, as I only live 2 miles away from his workshop but from conversations with him in the past, there are a few options.

1) You drive the car up, and he gives you a lift to the station.
2) He gets the train down and collects the car.
3) I think some people have been offered the use of the cool joolz mobile www.pistonheads.com/members/showProfile.asp?memberId=7322

I think him collecting the car is dependent on how busy he is - if he's got to travel to london to collect, its a full days dead time travelling rather than wielding spanners.

If you need a car for the duration you may want to organise a hire car. Ask if Joolz can get any good rates.

I've used Mole Valley and they will sort you a rental car for about £20 a day - only a Fiesta though. They told me they stopped giving out loan TVRs cos some people were booking tracks days in them.

The TVR factory will also loan/rent out cars, subject to availability. I took my Griff there for some work (I live nearby) and they sorted out a loan TVR for £25 per day. Granted it was "only" a 4L Chimp and had been hammered but still better than the Fiesta.

I doubt you'd get Joolz to collect a car at the moment - he's mega busy and booked up for several weeks (I got a lucky cancellation this week for a wee job I needed doing). I think he only lends the Joolzmobile to friends too rather than it actually being part of the service.

I live about 80 miles from Chesterfield and I usually take an option that Squirrelz hasn't come up with - I stay with the car and learn a bit while he's working. That way you get to talk through things that might need doing in the future, and he'll give you honest advice about what you could do yourself.

You don't say where you live in Yorkshire Rupert but the trains run direct from Chesterfield to York or Leeds approx on the hour - an apex return to York is only £10.00. (guess who works on the railway - had to get a plug in!). National Rail Enquiries - 08457 484950.

Joolz is exceptionally helpful, I dropped my car off at 7.0 yesterday morning and picked it up at 7.30 last night to fit in with my work. He even waited for me to go back again after that, when a headlamp bulb popped on the way home. The bloke who recommended him to me drives up from London, and says it's worth it to him for the quality of the work.

If the travelling is a critical issue for you, then Harrogate Horseless Carriages are in Yorkshire, might be easier for you. I'd just go to Chesterfield and enjoy the drive though. After all, you're in a Griff! Maybe you could do a deal with another PHer, and go hooning through lovely Derbyshire while your car's being done?

Yeah, didn't think of that. Alternatively, if you can book it in for a saturday, you could bring the missus up and catch a train to Meadowhell & do a days shopping :I'llgetmecoat:

Rupert, was it you that was getting married tomorrow (seen from an earlier post)?
