GT85 under the bonnet...
Discussion
Hi all,
I've just bought a 2014 car that looks fairly rust free in the engine bay. I want to keep it that way as other examples I saw had quite a bit of nasty looking corrosion under there.
I'm after a fairly easy solution that doesn't involve having to start washing under there. Providing I avoid belts, alternator and battery, could I pretty much just spray the lot with GT85 and wipe with a cloth?
Any other ideas?
Thanks

GT85 is a cleaning/lubricating spray (basically a WD-40 clone) which is basically a mix of white spirit, light oil and perfume. TBH if there is any corrosion preventing wax already under there spraying it with this will more likely wash it off!I've just bought a 2014 car that looks fairly rust free in the engine bay. There's loads of products properly designed for what you want to do and a quick google search should point you in the direction of them. Also, preparation is the key to any good rustproofing job so don't think you can get away with just spraying a product over muck. Don't try to half-ass the job as you will just be wasting your time and money.
If its rust free coating it with something like bilt hamber UC would work as it will last longer, other products exist such as Acf 50 but I find that a bit messy.
As for removal of light rust there are various aerosols that claim to do that but I have never used one so cant recommend there sorry.
