My computer says im getting 13.8 as an average this is town driving though, how does this sound?

Also ive recently decided to try the new tesco super unleaded as its rated at 99 octane compared to optimax 98 octane , but to be honest i cant really tell a diffrence between the two apart from the price of course.

Out of intrest what MPG are you guys getting?

Hi can not answere about a C4 but does not sound to good, I had an 1980 for over 15 years and got about 16 round town all the time and got up to 22/24 once on a very long run, I now have an 04 with 1500 miles I bought it new and I only get about 21 mpg my numbers are correct as I fill up and work out the mileage from the last fill up and do the maths etc, others say they get more but work off the car readings so you have to work out if it's US OR imperial gallons, I am not even sure as I have a Euro Vette and I know from the build sheet it has Euro speedo, sorry I will not buy supermarket petrol as it's not the same quality I got this information from a top R.A.C. sorce, I do not know how good the computer is on a C4, but on the C5 it knows the octane used and will run and sound the same because it adjusts the settings, you should use the best, and I think for the extra cost I would even use the best on a C4 as these are all high performance cars.

I get a no less than 12mpg if I drive it like I stole it - things like driving around in a 40mph limit in first, and that sort of thing, full WOT at every opportunity etc. No worse than 12 isn't bad!!

Realistically though, town driving would give me about 16mpg, Motorway 25mpg (70-80mph). When moving house a few years back, following the removal truck the whole way (and thus clipped at 60mph) I got 35mpg, which for a 5.7l slugger isn't bad!

Woking to Ealing (A roads and motorway mix) gives me an average of around 17.8 miles to U.S gallon (x 1.2 for imperial) Taking it easy on motorway and treating the loud pedal with respect will return 25 to the U.S gal

To convert mpg shown on the computer multiply by 1.15 (er, well add 15%...).

As for my 86, auto, which now has an 89 L98 in it, I get from about 14 around town, typically average 18.5 to the gallon, and Sciencebird can get 23mpg out of it cos she's so clever....

My lockup torque converter never comes in, so that loses a few mpg on the cruise.

My mate Tim's LT1 (1994 I think) manual - which I had a few goes in in the US, was getting about 27 mpg on a run. Show's how things move on with each engine redesign.

Gixer can eradicate gas over a fairly short distance, ask him about his consumption on the way to Hockenheim the year before last...

What do you mean???

Instant average was down to 3 and about 100 miles from having a full tank to running on fumes but it was worth it

I get about 18-19 US on average in a '93.

On the motorway it goes up to 22-23 US.

er....I think it's 4.45 litres per imperial gallon and I know it's 3.8 litres per US therefore

4.54 / 3.8 = 1.1947368421052631578947368421053

to be precise

Sorry Nige - the actual conversion is this.

1 Imperial gallon = 277.42 cubic inches
= 1.20094 American gallons
= 4.54609 liters

So actually it's now EVEN MORE economical to drive the Corvette, more so than those gas guzzling Smart car drivers...

Excellent! My kids favourite sport is to see how low an mpg reading we can get on the digital readout.
