heater broken

My heater has stopped working. The cold fan blows fine when the blue button is pushed but the hot does not blow when the red button is pushed. The red light around the switch is on so there is power to the switch. Any bright ideas?

The red button is for the heated rear window.

Hi thanks. I didnt mean the red button, I meant the red knob that you have to press to turn the fan on. It used to work it just doesnt now. Any have a similar problem before I try and take the dash apart?

Has it been turned to low setting? Try giving it a spin to see if the fan speed changes. If not then I'm beat, never had that problem.

No sadly there is no air flow at all regardless of wether the knob is on or off or turned either way. Sounds like I have an unusual fault then. Thanks anyway. Time to dismantle the dash

check that the ribbon cable on the control box in the passenger footwell hasn't become dislodged as this can screw things up

Check the heather ECU, above the passengers feet.. I found that when my heater gave up I had a knackered earth on the box, easy to tell as the terminal was brown.

Its the same old story of TVR using sub-standard electrical components.

Hi there, I had the problem you are describing, firstly I checked the ribbon cable but everything seemed OK. I removed the heater control knobs, not too hard to figure out. Theres a circuit board on the back. The solder joints didn't look to good and running a soldering iron over them sorted the problem.
