It's fine for me too (Chrome on Windows). It may be your browsers have done something weird. Clear the browsing cache and cookies maybe, or restart them. It's odd that it's both browsers. If you have access to Chrome or Firefox check that too.

How do I clear cache and cookies on ipad?
I hate Apple btw and struggle with its OS.
When did you last use it? It makes no sense that it's changed for you unless you haven't used it for ages and what you're calling a "new" layout is what is now standard and has been for ages.
What do you see in an incognito/private tab as that will rule out any browser plug-ins/add-ons etc.

I’ve looked on chrome now and it’s the same, aaargh.
There’s no menu button in the top left corner which is what I’ve always clicked on to get watch later, library list etc.
Can’t even find a button for that now.
I can’t even find my watch later list any more.
It just looks like a horrible app version of a perfectly functional website.

Right, I’ve restarted my ipad and it looks exactly the same ie "new" and horrible.
(In firefox or other browsers) when I click on the 3 dots in the top right corner I have the option of open app.
Click on it and it looks exactly the same.
So it’s like the app has become embedded within my browsers.
But, again, when I go on Firefox on my Windows PC it looks like the old "version" and calm is restored within me.
Looks like an ipad issue?

I sympathise - it “ used “ to be ok viewing on my iPad but recently the format has changed as you say.
I think it’s something to do with the upgrade needed banner that comes up on my gmail account when using the iPad which I’ll get round to assuming the software isn’t out of date to handle.
Absolutely fine and no changes to the format when viewed on my laptop.

So it’s not just me.
Just now I opened a new tab on Brave on my ipad and Youtube looked back to normal.
Phew, they’ve obv had an issue and sorted it out thought I.
Clicked on watch later and "list couldn’t be found".
Watched one video then when I clicked to watch another video it went back to yesterday’s horrible layout.
Safari is the same as yesterday.

When YouTube tries out some of its multiple new designs, only a small amount of people initially see them so its not unusual for have very different experiences across a small group of people. These usually last about a month while YT checks for user retention (do you use it less/more/unchanged since the update etc) to see whether the version you get to see is worth outputting to everyone.
