Hi folks and this great Friday....well it is a Friday so I am hoping it will be good.

Anyways...onto the question.

Has anyone here had a complete respray of their Griff, and if you did was it a respray of the original colour or a new colour? I am just intriged as I am planning at least a front end spray early next year for stone chips and wondered, if anyone else had done a complete respray on theirs and changed colour/shade at the same time.

I had a full respray on mine in Feb this year.

More than happy to chat offline about it all. If you want to, mail me through profile and we can exchange phone numbers etc. I have to say it was a great experience and the car looks stunning now.

Oh, just looked at your profile. The respray on mine was done in Guildford, just down the road from you...

I am in the proces of having my Griff completely resprayed. She will get a new color [ see www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=19283&f=9&h=0 ]. After the job is done I will place some pictures.

If you don't mind me asking how much are they quoting for full resprays? Likewise the front end on my could do with a respray (again), just wondered how much more for the complete car.

Also if you change the colour is it just a case getting the log book changed?

Cheers,

I depends where you go. There's some places that will do it on the cheap. I went on recommendations after seeing the guy's work (and I couldn't believe the job I saw was a nose-cone-only respray the blending was so good). The complete respray was about 1800.

Another thing you have to take into account is the existing colour of your car. Some of the older colours (pre-97 were old ICI paints and they tend to fade). Some colours are worse (like RossoPearl, Mica Red) and fade over time. that makes good blending even more difficult. There was a red Griff this year at Duxford that had obviously had a nose job as when you looked at the side, the doors and bum were a completely different shade of red.

The best thing to do is go and talk to a specialist like Tom Horsburgh Nr Guildford. Show him the car and ask for his opinion. He'll be honest with you (he has so much business he doesn't need to give you the hard sell) and tell you what, in his experience, would be best for your car.

PS, if you go for the full spray, you won't believe how good the car can look until you see it, polished.
