Just saw this a few minutes ago, had my digicam handy so took a couple pics.
The road is in a residential area and has a 30mph limit. I use the road every day and I know it's a favourite for speed enforcement.
Ironicly, the police stand exactly opposite the up-turned car and hide behind a bush there with a laser gun! The safety camera partnership were also on this road on Tuesday.
I wonder what speed the police car was doing to flip over like that? As far as I can tell no other vehicles were involved. I just hope no cyclists or pedestrians were on the pavement/grass verge at the time, although by sheer luck it appears they weren't.

First of all, hope no-one was hurt,

but accidents involving plodmobiles were the norm in my area, scarcely a week went past not so long ago, without another mishap, usually involving a 'chase'
(apparently)

It wouldn't have to be going fast at all - cars can flip very easily when they bump the kerb. Driver was probably reaching for radio/mobile/donut etc, touched the kerb (easy to understand on curved road like that) over-reacted and flipped the car.

Hope the inhabitants got out with nothing worse than red faces and brown trousers.

But I think it's safe to say that a new vehicle might be allocated to this officer for a little while...

Sorry, but going to rant !!!

People I do not know the circumstances here nor do any of you...Does any of you know if the police driver / operator are OK ? Not lying in some hospital ??

Does anyone know the facts ?? Were they running to a fatal accident, suspects on etc...did the tyre blow out ??

When the facts come out and i'm sure they will, remember we have black boxes now, then we can judge.

Until the facts are clear then lets keep the sarcastic comments such as GLF to yourself, if this was a TVR / Lambo / Ferrari upside down would we be having a simular forum ?? I think not.

If the police driver is at fault then we can debate the issue !!!

Thankyou,
Lee.

Am I unable to read part of this thread or something? I can't see any comments here which in anyway are indicating whose fault this was and some of the comments clearly state that they hope no one was hurt. Deltas GLF comment was pretty innocuous so why so touchy? In all honesty as the traffic police in particular set themselves apart from the rest of us ordinary motorists then clearly when they have a crash it is bound to cause some degree of curiosity. I don't believe however, that anyone on here has made comments that have wished the driver or anyone involved ill fortune.

Well looking at the pics I'd reckon what's happened is fairly obvious, it's that beautiful display of flowers has grabbed the coppers attention and he's momentarily lost concentration, hit the kerb and flipped it.

Now if that don't grab yer attention I don't know what will, it's also an ideal hiding place for terrorists.

Yep agreed, no comments wishing the copper any harm. There does however seem to be a certain level of satisfaction seeing the car like that, this could of course be the car driven by the cop who stopped me and gave me a total bs talk and who I then spotted 2 days later doing exactly what he'd stopped me for on the same road. I wonder why MoP sometimes get a bad opinion of the BiB?

No, if it's the one that happened on my patch yesterday, a cyclist came straight out in front, driver swerved towards curb to miss cyclist, car flipped over, cyclist cycled away laughing.

Yesterday afternoon about 14.00

I can't see the index number but it looks like our focus, and that looks like one of our local buses.

You may or may not be happy to know both officers were fine.

Clearly Lambo Cop understands the term i used as its used by the police themselves on "persuit" training whereby they drive like utter tts in cars that are barely capable of 2/3 the speed they drive them at.
Is it any wonder they often end up inverted then? No not really.

Make a habit of it dont they?

I worked bloody hard for all my driving qualifications and I am Advanced Police driver Class One and very proud of it. Maybe you should take your head out of the sand and get with what really happens at police driving schools rather than what you think happens.
Yes, that's why nearly everyone on here would dearly like to see the replacement of scameras and scamvans with lots more highly trained trafpol like your good self, out on the roads exercising the skills and judgement you have worked so hard to refine in order to tackle dangerous driving below and above the speed limit, and exercising discretion for demonstrably safe progress at an appropriate speed for the car / its conduct / the conditions.

My wife had a very similar accident a few yrs ago - cyclist straight in front of her - only she hit the cyclist (wasn't too seriously injured). But my wife got done (fine and 5 points) - no suggestion of excess or inappropriate speed but the court said she should have been able to stop.
