Towing with a PHEV

I currently have a diesel Sante Fe which copes admirably with towing out 1,750kg caravan. However only about 10% of my annual mileage is dome towing the caravan, and its a fairly thirsty car.
I am therefore considering changing it probably for something second hand, although the new deals on Ford Kugas are good. Issue with the Kuga is boot size. I need to get everyone in, and the camping kit, for Le Mans.
My vague thought is I should get a PHEV as then local mileage could be done on battery but whats available and any good?
So recommendations for a PHEV that can tow 1,750kg, costs around 25K and is not chinese.
