I'm refering, of course to removing the engine

My method was bonnet off, rad out, fluid pipes off, electrics disconnected in cabin & fed through bulkhead, NS manifold off, crossmember out, gear linkage off, gearbox mount off, sling to hoist (eventually), disconnect engine mounts from chassis, remove NS mount, drip tray under gearbox when i realise its leaking from where propshaft used to be, a lot of effing and blinding later i have once engine and box out.

Anyone any improvements???

Also can anyone reccommend a engine hoist thats long enough to reach in from the front of the car? I had to hoist from the side then eventually work the engine forward and persuade the hoist round to the front.

Regards
Iain

Iain,
I had the same problem with the Griff - it's frustrating when you've got everything ready to lift and you then find that your engine crane won't slide under far enough!!

I went out the next day and bought a new crane from MachineMart, which did the job perfectly,as it has a longer jib than the standard ones

I thought it was fairly reasonable and it allows you to get a central lift from the front of the car

The details are:
Clarke Long Reach Crane
Model: CFC1000LR
Capacity: 1 tonne
Price: £176.19

Hope it helps,
