Hi all.

My old man has a Fiesta in need of new tyres. I offered to help, so have booked in to the local place for Thursday fitment. No issues here.

I later realised that the car uses a tyre pressure monitor system, something I'm totally unfamiliar with. They appear to all be working correctly, and assuming they are can they be reused? Or do I need a whole new kit or perhaps just the valves?

Looking online it seems these regularly fail, but no clear advice on what kit to get or exactly what I'd need.

Being a fairly popular car I'm hoping there is some experience on here. I'd assume its the same system used on the ST and maybe other models such as the Focus.

Should not need replacing unless non-functional.

Not sure of the type on a Fiesta, it could be one that works off the ABS system which means no tyre sensor.

I’m not an expert, but I believe on a Fiesta the TPMS are part of the tyre valves, as long as they are working then you don’t need to worry as the tyre centre shouldn’t change them unless you ask.

You then just need to reset them in the car to tell it that all the pressures are ok. It should be part of the basic menu settings

The only issue you might have is that the batteries to power them are part of the valve and as it’s ten years old you will soon have reached the point where the batteries will start to run out. You then need to replace them with new TPMS sensors. Most tyre centre can change them but obviously they aren’t cheap!

They clip/screw into the base of the valve, we replace the valves but leave the sensor alone.

The Ford ones fail around 10 years so either replace them or get forscan and code them out.
