Seems he’s being charged after his solo accident on the M3.
Found with inhaleable nitrous in the car. Refused to give a sample, so they can roll out the line’ no proof of drugs found in his system’.Apparently he felt ‘forgotten about’ and ‘ feeling worthless’.

2 ways to look at these stories. He is not really any different than someone that works in a normal job, but is suddenly thrust out of the routine and comradeship he is used to his whole life, in his case as a footballer.
I imagine that bit where chelsea isolated various players from the main squad as they wanted to move them on really affected him.
So you get a bit of a downward spiral if not around particularly supportive family and friends.
He needs to find some other career like coaching if he is not playing anymore.
At least chelsea are rubbish now and deserve it.

He's not the first young person to behave like a dick and he won't be the last. He's just lucky nobody else was injured (or worse) by his stupidity and immaturity.

It's quite possible he didn't do anything other than the nitrous oxide, but thought it would be detectable and so refused. There's a video of him swerving across lanes and what is probably a balloon in his hand, but a decent solicitor could probably have talked it down to careless driving, but the refusal and aggravated circumstances will definitely result in a ban of several years I'm sure. Almost certainly not actual prison, but a short suspended sentence and a community order perhaps, if found guilty?Found with inhaleable nitrous in the car. I helped with a litter pick around our village last year. We picked up 8 or 10 of those big, flask sized nitrous cans from a hedge by a car park. It's endemic and clearly, from the footage of Sterling's driving, extremely dangerous.
A sad way to mess up a career, but hopefully an example to imitators.

How can anyone drive like that and not be on drugs?
I can (sort of) get how someone might do drugs/drink and then drive but what makes someone think "I'm driving down a motorway - I know I'll inhale some gas while I do it"? I guess that happens because they are already under the influence of something at that point.

On a human level I have a touch of empathy as I'm not sure finding yourself on the scrapheap is easy whatever your occupation and it's something I believe quite a few footballers struggle with - but ultimately I'm left thinking what a bloody fool.
One weeks wages for this guy is more than many people could ever dream of having left after a lifetime of proper hard work and he goes and does this.

Countless footballers have committed driving offences and served their punishment. This one is definitely at the more serious end of the scale, but there have been far more serious than this.
Sterling is at the end of his career. He’s won pretty much everything at club level (no CL) and was once the highest paid player in the PL. the problem is once Pep throws you on the scrapheap then your career is on the downslope. Some can cope with that, some can’t. Whatever happens he will still have a fortune in the bank and be able to live a life of ridiculous luxury whilst retired at 31.
As an aside pretty much every club will have one of their squad on a driving ban at any given point, so there’s no point any fan claiming the moral high ground based on the colour of short they support.
