Yes it is, though you can also convert them to a standard coil setup which many do for maintenance ease.
Be aware some parts can be difficult to source, I heard for example one comment of an owner stating rear bushings MB didn't sell anymore.
With all SL's it seems provided they're driven regularly they're generally nothing extraordinary, most of the issues are related to being left standing and the usual battery related issues.
