Bloody wasps.......
Discussion
Was clearly up some leaves today and dragged an old part filled builders bulk bag to where I wanted it to be, which was closely followed by all hell breaking loose, and me getting stung 5 times in about 10 seconds.
Seemingley there is a wasps nest in the bag, and I want rid. Whats the best way of doing it;
a) petrol & match
b) wasp powder
c) smoke bomb thingy
???
Little feckers need to do one, and quickly.

If there's an actual nest in the bag I'd second leaving it alone until they die off in autumn; while wasps are a massive pain in the bum and probably cause cancer in the State of California, they are really useful and eat aphids and other pests that want to f
k up your vegetables/flowers/whatever stuff you're growing. Buy some more bulk bags(they're only a couple of £ new) or beg a used one off a builder.

Wasp powder was very effective for us.

You can buy it on Amazon and loads of other places.
Wasps seem to have been particularly bad this summer in our garden with no less than 3 extremely busy ground nests (entrance holes in the soil about 10cm wide).
Each nest was completely eliminated with one treatment of that wasp powder squirted into the nest entrance once they had all gone to bed. All dead by the next morning.
Very rare to find a product that does such a good job, but I cannot fault it.
Wasps are just as integral to the environment as Bees, I don't get the hate, my wife goes apoplectic when we get one in the house.
All the interactions I have with them, I can't remember the last time one stung me? (cursed myself now mind you)
Leave them alone, or gently move and leave the bag elsewhere, out of your way a bit?

We seem to get a wasps nest somewhere around the house every year (old house has plenty of ideal wasp spaces)…had one this year under the eaves where there were always 20 to 30 wasps going in or out. Very close to where our teenage kids hang out in the garden and couldn’t open windows. So we had to get it dealt with…wasn’t something I wanted to do but felt it was necessary.
I’ve read they can also do damage if in loft spaces which this one was. I haven’t actually been up in the loft to investigate yet…

We have had loads around the last couple of days. They seem to be everywhere just going round shouting "parkour" and causing mayhem.
About 50 of them had a big fight for an hour on our lawn yesterday - very odd.
I think mowing the lawn must have upset them somehow.
As for nests, I generally leave them alone - but had one in the garden shed this year which was far from ideal obviously.
I threw some ant powder at it which seemed to keep the workers away for 10 minutes and then knocked it down and another dose of ant powder. An hour later it seemed to have done the trick.

We always have a fair few in the garden.
Touching wood, I haven't been stung since I was a kid, tend to leave them alone and they leave us alone.
Try not to get too concerned with them so the kids do the same. Screaming and trying to hit them with things for some reason pisses them off.

If we are having a BBQ some of my family go nuts if one buzzes around, usually due to a sweet soft drink being consumed. Flapping of hands and jumping about, I swear it increases the attention they get from them.
