Guys,

I can't seem to set up my profile so that I get e-mail notifications to any replies on threads to which I've subscribed/posted.

Is this a normal problem?

I seem to be fine on other (albeit "InfoPop" based platform) bulletin boards?

Any clues/advice on how I can set this up??

THANKS!

I don't think it actually works (no offence Ted). Never has for me anyway. Easiest way is to go to the "My stuff" section. Or ask this is the website feedback section.

Dont think there is one, you can do it if its you that started the thread, but not if you just contribute.

'My stuff' is the easiest way to keep track of threads.

Works fine for me.

Admittedly I've not used it in the past few weeks.

Maybe it's time for Ted to switch to an InfoPop based bulletin board system (might make the site quicker as well! ) ????

A new version of the forums is 80% complete. Introducing a 3rd party forum like Infopop would remove all the links with the membership system, news etc etc..

There is the occasional sluggishness but that's because the classifieds section needs optimising, it's no longer because of the forums.

Ted,

Will the new version support e-mail notifications of subscribed threads?

Sometimes I go back to threads MONTHS later to discover people have been posting on them and I've missed it! It's sometimes difficult to remember exactly where/when each post has been made.

I haven't written that bit yet but I probably will offer such a service. There will be an RSS feed too.

P.S. Don't forget bookmarks. They'll flash in the 'my bookmarks' page if new posts have been made since you last visited the thread.

New version of the forum? Will this recognise our current memberships or will we all have to create new ones?

It will all be very familiar on the surface. I've just changed the underlying structure to make enhancements easier.

Okey dokey. Sounds easy enough, but you still didn't answer my question

Try to see it my way,
Do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on?
While you see it your way,
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Think of what you’re saying.
You can get it wrong and still you think that it’s alright.
Think of what I’m saying,
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Life is very short, and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it’s a crime,
So I will ask you once again.
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way
There’s a chance that we may fall apart before too long.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Life is very short, and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it’s a crime,
So I will ask you once again.

The 'contributions' page (which lists all the threads you are a part of) used to show up the thread that was most recently added to - so you can see what threads have most recently had new posts.

However this appears to have changed with the new monthly method of showing contributions.

This means in theory I have to look at every thread I contributed to (in a list of 20ish) to see if someone has replied to something I've said. Not sure if I'm missing something here?

Maybe a solution: Since each thread knows which posts are new (there's a little blue line then the new posts start), how hard would it be to have each thread listed in 'contributions' have NEW next to it, or be in bold, or highlighted in blue, or something to show if there are new posts in that thread so you don't have to check them yourself for new posts?
