Iceland Not Interested in EU

The Icelandic electorate have voted against any further discussion on potentially joining the EU.
Were they influenced by Brexit??

Unlikely. They are already in the SM and Shenzhen. The biggest concern seem to be fishing and their size compared to most EU countries.

Depends how you define international waters, don't blame them in the slightest for defending 'their' fish stocks, and they've done a much better job than Europe or North America in managing them since.

I'd imagine Brexit had not a lot to do with it and mainly concerns over fishing

As noted above they’re in EFTA and Schengen so i really can’t see the gain of joining the EU. They have most the advantages of membership with none of the disadvantages. Like Norway…

Iceland are financially tied to the USA and China and so probably don't want to get financially tied into Europe. Iceland exports most of its geothermal energy to the USA (in the form of aluminium) and export a fair amount of knowledge to China (in the form of the JV's they have developing geothermal plants in China).

Free movement is the issue. I'd assume not many people want to move to Iceland or Norway. Unless you've got a good job lined up why would you?

Maybe the EU should forget free movement, then the UK would be in like Flynn.
