I know the GPz500 is a popular commuter / first big bike, but what's its big brother the GPz 1100 like?

Don't seem to see many for sale and I don't think they make them anymore...

It used to be their top bike against the suzook katana etc. Then they brought out the GPz900R in '83 (?) and then the ZX-9R etc. Like Katanas, not many which haven't massed about with, still about.....

or are you talking about the 90s one?, a big comfy sport(ish) tourer with a slightly detuned ('for midrange') zzr1100 motor. supposedly a nice bike, but no cutting edge racer

That's the one, the 90s one. The one I saw was on an N plate I think.

Like this one...

...?

That was my main commuter bike for a year and I loved it and I wish I still had it.

It's the only bike I've ridden through the winter and rode it from Newbury to Lancaster with one fuel stop very swiftly indeed and felt fresh as a daisy when I got off at the other end. Effortless cruising and acceleration and a very comfortable seating position (much nicer than the zzr1100 for example).

It is a heavy bike though and having got to lancaster to see a mate it was hard work in the twisties trying to follow him on his kr1s Having said that you can stick it in third and follow the smell of 2 stroke home.

Fastners, alloy and exhausts corrode if used through winter but a remus single sided road system sounds lovely and works well.

Here's a couple of links about them...

Traded it (the commuter) and a zx6r (the fun bike) in against a 2000 blade to do both jobs. Blade is great, don't miss the 6r in the slightest but wish I hadn't traded the gpz in.

Regards,

Mark
