ffs-- Fob drama

cant believe it--- left the fob in my pants and its gone through 2 wash cycles!!!!!!

dried it out and tried it--- nothing.

problem now is... locked and alarmed cerb in the garage..

I guess its the secret entry route, then disconnecting the positive from the battery--- how much alarm noise action am i gonna get here guys? we talking an hour of continuous noise?

Get into the car ("secret" way)
pop bonnet
disconnect battery (at which point alarm goes off)
reconnect battery while holding alarm fob button down

This should re-sync alarm with fob & alarm will stop

Might be worth replacing the alarm fob battery before you start this incase the wash killed the battery !

GOOD LUCK !!!! (suggest you wait till a bit later in the morning before doing it though as the neighbours woun't like you much if you do it at 2am on a Sunday ! )

c)The battery isn't flat in the "spare" through lack of use !

Hmm a trevor dealer is telling me if i have fooked the only fob i have and need it replaced, even if i have the alarm code on my log book then i will need a new control box fitting to my car, which involves calling greenflag and getting a low loader to shift my cerb over to them and £250.

this sound right to you guys? i mean, whats the point of having an alarm code if you cant use it to get a new fob??

Best to get Carl to sort it. A number of dealers use him anyway and in some cases, a dealer will suggest more expensive fix simply because they do not have the kit that Carl maintains.

Yes, Carl's your man for this.

I had a code label with my keys when I got the car but the spare fob Carl made wouldn't sync. It tuned out that the code must have been changed some time but the label hadn't. I called in to see Carl and he reprogrammed the system and I ended up with three working fobs. Very reassuring !

do you think that carl will be able to help with replacing the manual overide fobs? My car didn't come with any.

I'm not sure about that. I have one but I've never used it.

isnt the manula override for the immobaliser and not the alarm? whats the chance of that having survived the wash !!

Spoke to Carl-- top bloke, he really knows his stuff.

knew my Cerb inside out, more so than the dealer i spoke to before hand.


gonna take my control box out and post it down for an overwrite.

I would have posted my control box to Carl but I was going to France the next week and I didn't want it to be lost in the post somewhere. So I called in to see Carl and then spent the rest of the day watching Autec make a Rover engine go nuclear...

Well, got control unit back from carl, all works like a dream.

superb guy that really knows his stuff, saved me a lot of money over going to a dealer.


in future if i ever have an issue carl can sort--im going to him.
