Has anyone notice a discrepancy between their analogue and digital rev counters? I noticed it for the first time yesterday which seamed to coincided with starting to open up the rev range.

I pulled off the motorway and switched on and off. It reset itself but then again when opening up later on the issue returned.

I don't usually drive with the digital rev counter displayed, but the few times I have, I've not noticed any discrepancy. I usually drive with Oil Temp displayed as a big number on the right hand side of the display, and whatever the 3 accompanying small items are next to the speed on the left hand side.

That's interesting Karl, Allan actually told us to take more notice of the Digital Rev Counter than the Analogue.

It was quite strange because initially the Analogue was reading up to 1K revs lower than the digital and the 2nd time the Analogue was 250 RPM (roughly) than the digital.

I'd expect the digital one to read a smidge lower if you're accelerating quickly, however, I have never studied the dials that closely. When I'm accelerating quickly I'm too busy holding on/looking where I'm going I watch out for the change up lights instead.

I think the only time I watch the rev counter is when the engine is cold, but even then I can 'feel' the revs.

I had a Tuscan, which I guess is similar. All the dials were schizo, fuel & speedo disagreed on the dual read outs.

(Worst example, just passed Cherwell Services on M40 when digi fuel readout counted down from 20 litres to zero in about 1/2 mile!)

Ever had the sensor replaced? Sounds like it's up the creek (could be due to heat build-up down by the diff I guess).

I'll get it looked at during it's next service - it doesn't show 199 all the time, just sometimes, especially past 130, so I use the RA2, just to be sure.

I was mildly surprised as well....not at the discrepancy, but that she was looking at something other than the speedo, which was reading somewhere around the 'she's quite steady bearing in mind we're doing 120' territory

I've been keeping an eye on my digital and analogue displays and so far they've been mirroring each other without any discrepency. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that they continue to do so now that I've jinxed them....

...they all do that marm! Mine has similar tendencies and has been known to read 80 at the traffic lights while being overtaken by a cyclist. If it gets worse it'll be the sensor so add it to your snagging list. Cool colour by the way.

I'll pay more attention.

I wonder if the change up lights are tied to the analogue, or digital versions of "the truth" ?
