buying a performance car, does tyre brand matter?
Discussion
I need to buy four new tyres for a 2020 golf gti that I will be selling. Ill be putting it on collecting cars I think, so want to make it as attractive as possible to potential bidders
looking at prices on blackcircles
4x tyres (prices after promotional discounts)
pirrelli p zero - £489.96
conti sport 7 - £541.96
kumho - £389.96
the question is, is it worth the extra £100/£150 over the kumho tyres? would pirrelli or conti attract more interest? or wouldnt matter , kumho arnt considered a rubbish budget brand after all.

Yeah, Kumhos are decent, a lot of people don’t notice tyres, a lot dont care if they are new but I would be happy to see four new Kumhos on a Golf GTI, don’t think you need to spend the extra.
Been to look at 500 bhp Mercedes with Chinese budgets on, you just know it will be utterly hopeless and you will need to “budget” for four decent tyres.

If two roughly similar cars had nothing much to choose between them I’d probably prefer the one with better tyres, and would also perhaps think that the owner who chose more budget ones had made savings in other areas, but this is far enough down the list of preferences that I think it’d be very unlikely to ever end up as the deciding factor.
On the other hand, if I was selling I’d not go with the cheaper choice for the sake of £100.

Does it need new tyres? As a buyer the upside of partly worn tyres is that you can check whether they are wearing evenly. Brand new tyres might suggest hiding some tricky alignment problem.
Perhaps I am overthinking this!
Thats a good point actually - that said hot FWD cars can often scub the outer edgesPerhaps I am overthinking this!
