New Build homes

We have bought a few old homes over the past few decades (now in my 40s)
We bought our current house 6 years ago but a new business has taken ALL of my time away and don't have the time to do the work we need to make the house into a house we want to live in. AFter 6 years we are all fed up of living here.
THe choice is, drop £100k on the house (which we just about can do from a mnix of savings and debt)- we won't see that money back ever i suspect, but we'll have a nice enough house. It won't ever be our long term home.
The other choice is to buy a bigger house that doesn't need any work- and looking at new build.
So-is there any reason why we shouldn't buy a new build? what are the downsides? i can see that they are slightly more expensive than non new, but we've found somewhere in a small development by bewley homes..... its very attractive to just move somewhere that is warm, doesn't need any work and is low maintenance.
