Diff Backlash

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a Tuscan. Tried a wonderful Mk3 earlier in the week.

But was surprised to hear some 'diff backlash' on so late a car (Sept 2006).

1. Is this normal: i.e. the soft, occasional clunk.
2. Do the earlier Mk1's have the same characteristic?
