New build. From start to finish in 1 post!

19th January. Setting out.
Detached 2400 square foot house.
Background-
I used to be a builder but ill heath brought a stop to that. Now a H&S manager.
Still have lots of friends in the trade. Luckily.
8th February 26
24th March
3rd April
23rd April
20th May
7th June
1st July
20th July
30th July
8th August.
Had a Brain haemorrhage mid May.
Moved in 28th August.
Building inspector due on the 14th September for final inspection.
It took 3 years to get planning including going to appeal. 1/4 of an acre plot and the planning officer said I was over developing the plot!
It s been a challenge.

Seems pretty remarkable to me having lived through 6mths of an extension / refurb and everyone locally being amazed how quick it was - some similar jobs around us have a taken a year.

I can drive projects. In a former life I was head of construction management at a large investment company in Qatar. Led the construction of the W hotel in Doha. A 30 story mixed hotel and residence tower in West bay. Glad to hear your health is getting better.
A few years ago I built a swimming pool in 3 weeks for a fellow Pistonheader.

Yes. They basically objected to everything. Going to appeal cost me thousands. They just walk away with no explanation.

Yep planning officers are untouchable. They never get sacked or disciplined. Although you only do the job if a/ You’re winding down to retirement or b/ You are useless.
Whoever did that bricklaying on the garage front wall and house ground floor wall should be brought back to sort out the hideous pointing. That would drive me insane.
I’m surprised Building Control have signed off the soak away - that should be at least 5m from the structure - don’t be surprised if you get some movement issues with the garage.

Great work though and actually pretty rapid build. I presume your do some landscaping next year? Moved in 28th August.
