Insurance claim following accident

Had a car run into my rear left back in June. Spun me 90 degrees. Dog (10yr old Lab) was in back and appeared ok no symptoms whatsoever,in the weeks following, in fact he had a check with the vet about a possible arthritic front leg.
Vet suggested tablets and since taken then his mobility has got worse especially the rear legs and is limping badly
Going to vet Tuesday and I am wondering whether during the accident he got thrown about and received injuries which are now showing
IIRC there have been examples where humans have reopened a closed case months later due to an injury not apparent at the time,being proved it was caused by the accident. Could this also apply to animals?

He is insured by the rescue trust but I would not like them to foot the bill if it could be proven the accident was tge primary cause of the limping

Get your facts lined up first before tackling insurers, is my advice.

Your vet should know if this is accident damage, but I believe (and I am not a breed expert) that labrador retrievers tend to suffer from joint and leg problems at this sort of age. So you may have trouble proving your case.

I googled my thoughts and Artificial Insemination said:
"Labrador retrievers very commonly suffer from joint issues, especially osteoarthritis and degeneration, by age 10 and beyond".

He was fine prior to the accident, and went downhill very quickly a few weeks after..
Still see what vet says on Tues and if favourable,ask the insurers
