Should we all be driving Renaults?

Renault appear to have figured out how to build small, inexpensive, reliable, sporty cars.

The Twingo, 4, 5, and Megane are getting rave reviews as electrics.
The hybrid Clio appears to have very few drawbacks.
The 0.9 TCe is the one small turbo that doesn't have frequent failure points.

Is the reputation of the "Diamond of Doom" improving? Is the joke about the logo being a scissor jack obsolete?

I adore Renaults and alpines and always have. I just think there is a joy in their looseness, lightness and their bright colours.

I think they're the only company making electric cars that people with any sense of style actually would want to buy.

Renault are currently in my top 3 manufacturers together with Mazda and Suzuki. Love what they are doing with their electric range and the new Clio also looks good. I can see my next daily driver being a Renault. So much better than Citroen and Peugeot at the moment.

Dacia too. They're putting the Hipster (crap name/cool car) into production.

Will be interesting to see how reliable they are. A friend is on his 3rd Dacia and isn't as reliable as his last two. Sensor issues and a very temperamental lane assist. But I had considered a Dacia as a daily I wouldn't care about. Monthlies are cheap enough.

Renault have always had a hard time in the UK with us preferring the perceived reliability and indestructibility of the premium German brands.

Obviously German cars aren't all that when it comes to reliability and have their fair share of historical and current issues, as did Renault in the early 2000's but the Germans always seem to get a free ride "because German". When it comes to the French, we have long memories, it's always perplexed me though as if you go to mainland Europe you'll see all manner of older French cars still going strong, perhaps the crap ones or "seconds" get earmarked for the UK market!

Currently I believe that Renault offer the best range of cars, particularly when it comes to EV's, than any other mainstream European manufacturer.

Cue someone piping up they had a Renault 15 years ago and was the most unreliable thing they have ever owned so therefore Renault are crap for evermore.

I was quite surprised on holiday in South Africa to see Renault Dusters around, apparently Dacia's reputation is so bad over there they market them as Renault instead.

In the UK Dacia seems to be going the way of Skoda, originally considered cheap and nasty but now seen as a decent alternative to it's more expensive stablemates.

I’ve recently bought a Renault 4, build quality and finish are at least as good as my soon to be sold VW Polo, and it is wonderful to drive. The ID.Polo is in some ways a better car as it has a bit more range and a squidgen more room in the back and in the boot. It is also a bit more conventional and ICE car like. Obviously VW did something right as it is flying off the shelves unlike the Renault 4. The smaller Renault 5 is selling well.

I don’t understand why people think VW are reliable. The VW ID 3 and 4 did very badly in a WhatCar reliability survey, the electric Renault Megane and Scenic did very well. I’m hoping that carries over to the Renault 4 and 5.
